Lifetree Café: I Lived in a Dumpster
October 8, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm EDT
Lifetree Café is a place where people gather for conversation about life and faith in a casual, comfortable setting.
Perseverance in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles will be discussed in the program, titled “‘I Lived in a Dumpster’: How a Homeless Teenager Rose to the Top of Her Class,” features a filmed interview with Karina Sanchez, a woman who overcame multiple obstacles, including homelessness, to graduate from high school with a 4.3 GPA and receive scholarship offers from some of America’s top universities.
“I remember feeling so terrible; no one wanted me,” says Sanchez, who completed her high school career while secretly living in a dumpster behind the school. “But I thought I could do it and I would be okay.”
During the program, Lifetree participants will have the opportunity to consider times they have faced obstacles and how they responded.
Admission to the 60-minute event is free. Lifetree Café is located at Restoration Cafe in downtown Clearwater.
