Peace Concert Series

WHAT: VOICES & SPIRITS SOAR – Voices of the Tampa Spiritual Ensemble will perform wonderful arrangements of traditional African-American Spirituals and celebrate compositions by the best of historic and contemporary black composers. You will hear works by Roland Carter and Wm. Dawson and selections such as “Lift Every Voice and Sing” and “Ain’t It a Good Thing”, plus works by resident composer Brandon Martin.

This group has been pleasing audiences in Tampa Bay and surrounding areas for 5 years. Members of the ensemble met while singing together at The Univ. of South Florida, in The Master Chorale of Tampa Bay, Opera Tampa and other professional ensembles. They quickly formed a friendship and bond through a shared passion of preserving the Negro Spiritual and celebrating African –American composers and arrangers. The rich acoustics of Peace Church will complement these strong voices and exciting selections. The ensemble is dedicated to bringing our community inspiring concerts and Black History programs that celebrate African- American traditional music and also works by rising black composers.
