Sip & Stroll . . . and Strum in The District “Welcoming The Tampa Bay Ukulele Society”
October 16 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pmFree
The District welcomes The Tampa Bay Ukulele Society! The 2,900 members strong organization celebrates and educates on the instrument, roughly translated from Hawaiian as “jumping flea” (probably “noting” those fast fingers on the cords).
Developed in our 50th state in the late 1800’s by Portuguese immigrants from Madeira, the ukulele is undergoing its own renaissance of sorts. Youtube videos by professional “uke” players are getting millions of views.
Luckily for The District, we will have 3 difference performances throughout the evening: Tom Hood & The Tropical Sons,
Norine & Vinny (The Mungos) and The Pineapple Scruffs: Connie Mason, Peter Grace & Donna Watkins
