Spyro Gyra at The Bilheimer Capitol Theatre

Spyro Gyra, one of the most successful pop-jazz groups to emerge from the fusion era, returns to the Bilheimer Capitol Theatre. Over the last 40+ years, they have performed over five thousand shows, released thirty-one albums selling over ten million albums while also achieving one platinum and two gold albums.

Known for their stimulating live performances and knack for crafting danceable melodies, the group have issued a steady stream of high-charting albums like 1979’s gold-certified Morning Dance. Radio hits like Shaker Song, Catching the Sun, It Doesn’t Matter, A Winter Tale, and Unwritten Letter keep the band an audience favorite.

Long before the coining of the radio-generated buzzwords “New Adult Contemporary” or “Smooth jazz”, Spyro Gyra was jamming and creating their own instrumental hybrid, incorporating elements of R&B, Latin, Brazilian whatever struck their collective fancy into an infectious sound which just coincidentally became a forerunner of today’s popular style.
