Clearwater Seeks Artists to Design Downtown Sidewalk Chalk Art

The city of Clearwater’s Community Redevelopment Agency is seeking artists to design a series of chalk art designs to be on display along Cleveland Street during a special VIP gallery tour.

On April 21 from 1 to 4 p.m., Salvador Dali Museum members will be conducting a tour of three galleries in Downtown Clearwater, with local food and beverages at each stop, live local music and talks with gallery owners and the city’s mayor.

Artists will be selected to create chalk art designs that will be on display along Cleveland Street. Each selected artist will create a design in front of each gallery and/or a series of artwork along the route.

Design Theme – The city of Clearwater recently adopted a new brand to highlight its natural beauty and location. The city’s tagline is: Bright and Beautiful • Bay to Beach. The desired artwork and theme should exemplify how the city and Downtown Clearwater are bright and beautiful. The attached map depicts the specific locations of the galleries and the path that the group will travel along from one location to the next.

Compensation – An honorarium of $500 per artist will be provided as compensation for the selected artwork.

Site Background – The specific galleries and locations are:

Galleria Teixeira, 612 Cleveland St.
Marlene Rose, 416 Cleveland St.
Second Century Studios, 331 Cleveland St.
