Downtown Clearwater Website Goes Live to Promote Events, Businesses and Happenings in Downtown Clearwater

Explore, experience and enjoy the beauty beyond the beach in Downtown Clearwater.

To help make a visit to Downtown Clearwater a success, the city of Clearwater’s Community Redevelopment Agency will launch a new website, DowntownClearwater.com, that will pinpoint the entertainment, culinary and business opportunities in Downtown Clearwater. The city contracted with Sparxoo, a Tampa Bay creative firm, to design and develop the website.

DowntownClearwater.com will go live on Friday, January 26 and will be celebrated during the city’s concert series Blast Friday, which will be held from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Friday, January 26 on Cleveland Street between Osceola and East avenues in Downtown Clearwater. Blast Friday will feature veteran and accomplished saxophonist Richard Elliott. Blast Friday is held the last Friday of every month from January to May and features a national musical act.

At the January 26 Blast Friday event, city staff and volunteers will hand out free DowntownClearwater.com sunglasses. A photo booth will be set up for people to take free photos wearing their DowntownClearwater.com sunglasses. The photos will be printed with DowntownClearwater.com and the new Downtown Clearwater logos printed on the images.

City staff will also encourage people in attendance to take photos of where they find “Beauty Beyond the Beach” in Downtown Clearwater. Photos tagged #DowntownClearwater on Instagram will be judged for creativity by city staff. The top five images will be voted on by city staff for a chance to win gift certificates from Downtown Clearwater merchants and event organizers. The contest ends February 16, and winners will be announced February 23.

The interactive, state-of-the-art and easy to navigate DowntownClearwater.com website invites viewers to explore and learn about the daily concerts, events and activities happening in Downtown Clearwater.

The website features calendars and itineraries with information for fun things to do. The site’s Ready, Set, Explore feature allows website visitors to find their favorite shops and restaurants on one interactive map that will help plan their adventure in Downtown Clearwater.

The website features a Downtown Clearwater business directory and tips to get around town. The site offers information on how to start a business in Downtown Clearwater, business incentive programs and available downtown real estate.

The site also recognizes the future of Downtown Clearwater with information and images on the upcoming projects:

  • Enhancement plan for Coachman Park
  • Development of the North Marina Master Plan
  • Streetscape improvements along Cleveland Street from Missouri Avenue to Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard
  • Neighborhood improvements for the Downtown Gateway with plans for a Mercado or Market Place

“DowntownClearwater.com is an innovative website and an easy way to view all the global restaurants, unique shops, investment opportunities and incentives available in Downtown Clearwater,” said Anne Fogarty France, downtown manager for the city’s Community Redevelopment Agency.

“We hope it’s a site that will be visited often and that viewers sign up for the monthly newsletter to keep abreast of the new restaurants, shops and city projects that will open,” Fogarty France said. “With the Imagine Clearwater initiative on the forefront, there’s a lot going on in Downtown Clearwater, and we want everyone to see the beauty beyond the beach.”
