Stantec Selected to Implement the Imagine Clearwater Project

The City of Clearwater approved international consulting design firm Stantec to provide architecture and engineering services to implement Imagine Clearwater, a Community Vision Plan for the Downtown Waterfront. The work order that Stantec has now is for review of certain aspects including kayak launching, orientation of the bandshell and the estuary. The plans that will be delivered in May will be at 15% completion.

Imagine Clearwater is a plan to reactivate the city’s waterfront and downtown in an effort to spur economic development. The Stantec team will provide engineering, landscape architecture, and architecture services for the project. A public meeting to present the plan to the community and stakeholders is being planned for summer 2018 and a groundbreaking is expected in 2019.

The Imagine Clearwater project examines the redevelopment of a 19-acre waterfront and downtown property that stretches from the existing Coachman Park and public parking lot to its west, to the Harborview Center. The Clearwater Main Library is along the northeast boundary of the site. The Stantec team will implement the plan by creating a waterfront destination of local and regional significance to include a downtown waterfront performance bandshell, activating the waterfront for greater activity, and connecting the waterfront to the rest of Clearwater.

Dave Kemper, Stantec’s managing principal for the project said, “We are pleased to have this opportunity to assist the City in executing this important project. We look forward to being a key partner in helping Clearwater deliver on its vision to spur economic and social vibrancy to downtown”.

In Florida, Stantec has 14 Florida offices that include professionals providing services in: civil, transportation, and electrical engineering; planning and landscape architecture; architecture and interior design; program and project management; environmental services; and construction engineering and inspection.
